There is hardly any devotion more beloved among Catholics than The Rosary. This beautiful meditative prayer honors Mary, the Blessed Virgin, in a quiet and thoughtful way as it expresses our worship for "the Fruit" of her womb, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Rosary begins with the "Apostles Creed," in which we affirm the core beliefs of our Faith. Then, in a series of "Our Fathers" and "Hail Marys's" we enter into the story of our Salvation by recalling a series of "Mysteries" called variously, Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious. Events in these Mysteries track the Life of Christ from the Annunciation of His Coming to Mary through His Resurrection and Ascension into Heaven and, finally, the Assumption of His Mother as Queen of Heaven.
The Rosary can be prayed individually or with a group, as when our Holy Name Society leads the prayer before Mass during May and October or when our Parish Prayer Group gathers.
